Members of Tabernacle of Praise in Kennard gathered to witness a dream become a reality on Sunday, Aug. 18. The church held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on a 17,000-square foot facility with a 300-seat auditorium that will boast state of the art lighting and sound. Pastor Keith Smith was joined by his board and several Houston County officials, including Judge Erin Ford, Commissioner Kennon Kellum, Mayor of Kennard Jesse Stephens and Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt. Also in attendance were builder Bob Kontor of Houston and General Contractor Roger Kellum. Expected completion of the facility is in the fall of 2014. This facility will set into motion the purpose and passion of TOP in becoming a multi-cultural church that reaches not only Houston County but surrounding counties as well. The church currently is located at 404 Broadway in Kennard.
