Deputies recover meth lab

Responding to a tip, the Narcotic Division of Houston County Sheriff's Office recovered a methamphetamine lab, in the Belott area on Forest Service Road 529B on Friday, Oct. 26. 
The Methamphetamine Initiative Group, of Houston, also responded and collected the lab for proper disposal. 

"It is not uncommon to find these labs on government lands," said Sheriff Bobbitt, "because the people making meth don't have to risk their own property being confiscated and seized if they are caught."

Sheriff Bobbitt urged anyone who might find items similar to those confiscated to contact the sheriff's office immediately. 

Sheriff Bobbitt said, "It is dangerous for anyone to attempt to handle these products especially if they are not trained and qualified in proper disposal."
