Amid clear skies and mild temperatures, 38 entries in the 2007 Houston County Christmas Parade, sponsored by Houston County Career Women, made their way around the square to cheering crowds ringing in the holiday season.

The parade began at 6 p.m. and entries personified the theme, "Merry Christmas-God Bless Texas."

Judges perused contestants as they passed by and named the Wal-Mart float as the Judges Choice.

The Most Representative of Theme award was presented to Hispanic Baptist Church and Most Artistic Lighting went to Jordan School.

Harvest Church won Most Representative Religious theme and Best Vehicle went to Jacob Rhone.

Webelos Cub Scout Pack #422 won Best Marching Entry Non-musical and Best Marching Band was presented to St. Francis of the Tejas Catholic Church.

Stormy Kenny and pony Shianne won Best Equestrian Entry.

Judges for the event included Enice and Willie Kitchen, David Whittelsey, Tiffany Stubblefield and Courtney Marshall.
