Five people were transported to hospitals in Crockett and Nacogdoches following a Saturday, Nov. 10 crash on Hwy. 7 east.
According to reports, David Edward McKendree, 30, Maria McKendree, 29, and two children, ages seven and two, all of Crockett were transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS.
David McKendree was reportedly later transferred to ETMC Tyler.
Michael Obrian Myers, 59, of Pollok, was air-lifted to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital by PHI Air Medical.
Reports indicate David McKendree was driving a 2007 Toyota pickup on Hwy. 7 about nine miles east of Crockett when the crash occurred.
Myers, driving a 2007 Honda sedan, was westbound and according to witnesses and evidence at the scene was traveling at a speed that was too fast and unsafe. Reports indicate Myers failed to control his vehicle, it ran off the edge of the roadway, he overcorrected, the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and into the path of the McKendree vehicle.
The two vehicles struck head on.
Reports indicate the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Corporal Bobby Bowlin, Houston County Sheriff's office, US forest Service Law Enforcement, Crockett Volunteer Fire Department, Kennard Volunteer Fire Department and Kennard First Responders responded to the scene.
