Smith recognized as CPD Officer of Year

In recognition of Crockett Police Officer Wadell Smith's strong work ethic and his work with youth in the schools and the community, CPD Chief David Cross recently named Smith as the 2013 CPD Officer of the Year. "He is an good example of what we expect from our officers at the department, which is friendliness, caring and community oriented policing," Cross said. "I am proud of Officer Smith and all that he accomplished in 2013 for the city and our department. He is a hard worker and is always the first to volunteer when needed for special assignments." Smith is a former Crockett State School employee who completed his police training at the Angelina Police Academy in June 2012. He was introduced as a new Crockett police officer with experience in working with youth and mental health issues at the July 2012 city council meeting. Smith is married and has five daughters.
