Commissioners canvass votes
Houston County Courier - November 2007

The Houston County Commissioners Court canvassed results of the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election during a special meeting Monday morning, Nov. 19. 
During the canvass, Houston County Clerk Bridget Lamb reported that there were six provisional ballots added to the totals.
With the addition of the provisional ballots, commissioners declared the official results of the countywide Local Optional Election as Proposition 1 (Beer and Wine Sales): 2,508 For and 2,009 Against.
Proposition 2 (Restaurant Sales of Alcohol): 2,543 For and 1,947 Against.
Minor adjustments were also noted in the results of the Constitutional Amendment Election as a result of the provisional ballots. 
Houston Countians voted in favor of all 16 amendments, and all of them also passed statewide.
The comissioners court meeting was recessed until 9 am Tuesday, Nov. 20 at which time commissioners will consider approval of the purchase and financing of three vehicles for the sheriff's office, and may consider approval of an architect's contract for the jail expansion project.
