Community mourns former councilman

The community came together on Wednesday, Dec. 5 to mourn the passing of former Crockett City Councilman Dr. Carl O. Murray.
Dr. Murray passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2. He was 81.
Dr. Murray was a lifelong resident of Crockett, practiced medicine here for 49 years, and served several terms on council in the 1960s.
He served as the medical doctor for the Crockett State School and Texas Youth Commission for 40 years until 1991.
He was a graduate of Crockett High School, the University of Texas and Tulane Medical School. After his residency in Buffalo, NY, he returned to Crockett in 1949.
He was a charter fellow of the American Board of Family Practice and a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, certified with added qualifications in geriatric medicine.
