Candidates begin filing for March Primary Election

Candidates began filing with their party on Monday, Dec. 3 for positions in the upcoming Tuesday, March 4 Primary Election.
The offices up for re-election include district attorney, county attorney, county commissioners Pct. 1 and Pct. 3, sheriff, county tax-assessor collector, constables Pct. 1 and Pct. 2, Democratic and Republican party chairmen.
The last day candidates can file for place on ballot is Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.
According to Democratic Party Chairman Bill Holcomb as of Monday, Dec. 3, several candidates had filed for offices including Danette Millican, tax assessor-collector; Pat Perry, county commissioner Pct. 3; Jerry McLeod, county commissioner Pct. 1; Jimbo Rains, constable Pct. 1; Daphne Session, county attorney; Bob Luce, constable Pct. 2 and Bill Holcomb, Democratic party chairman.
According to Republican Party Chairman Joni Clonts as of Tuesday, Dec. 4 several candidates had filed for offices including Kenneth "Red" Smith, constable Pct. 2; Billy Jones, constable Pct. 1; Morris Luker, constable Pct. 1; Billy Christian, commissioner Pct. 1, Roger Dickey, commissioner Pct. 1and Joni Clonts, Republican party chairman.
The first day voters can apply for ballot by mail is Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 and the last day is Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.
The last day a resident can register to vote is Monday, Feb. 4, 2008
Early Voting will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 and continue through Friday, Feb. 29.
