Habitat for Humanity of Houston County dedicates second house
Houston County Courier - December 2007
As Habitat for Humanity Houston County members look forward to celebrating their fifth anniversary they will dedicate their second house on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m.
Groundbreaking for the house at 104 Heather Lane took place in November 2006.
During the past year volunteers from Huntsville, Palestine, Arlington, Mansfield, Nacogdoches and Houston County have built the house along side the Lauro Rico family.
The Rico family has fulfilled their agreement to work sweat equity hours on the house and will soon start making payments on their new home with a zero percent interest loan.
Their payments will then go into a fund to build another house in Houston County.
Habitat is an organization based on Christian principles and teachings. On Sunday, Dec. 16 the family will be presented a Bible and a key to their new home.
The community is invited to attend the short dedication ceremony, tour the home and enjoy cake and punch to celebrate with the Rico family and honor the volunteers of Habitat for Humanity of Houston County.
For information call Carrie Garms, volunteer executive director at 544-4602.
