Houston County commissioners approved an agreement with DRG Architects, PLLC, of San Antonio, for an analysis of necessary improvements to the Houston County Sheriff's Office Jail during the meeting held on Friday, Dec. 21.
According to Houston county Judge Lonnie Hunt, the contract with DRG Architects is basically for architect services on the jail expansion project.
The contract includes providing an analysis, which will tell the county what they need for the future and the best way to accomplish that; either adding on to the existing jail or building an all-new facility.
The agreement also includes DRG drawing up the plans for whichever option the county chooses.
The contract provides that DRG will provide the services for a fee not to exceed $75,000 and the firm will make up to two presentations to commissioners at public meetings to explain the project and it's progress.
In other business, commissioners approved receiving a donation in the amount of $975 for rock for CR 4190 in Precinct 3.
Commissioners authorized the sheriff's office to advertise for bids for the purchase of a new 1/2 ton, two-wheel drive pickup. Bids for the purchase will be opened on Friday, Jan. 18 and considered by the county on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Houston County Clerk Bridget Lamb was authorized to expend $649 from the Records Management Fund to purchase a new Dell Inspiron 530s computer to be used in her office.
