Power outage is corrected
Houston County Courier - December/January 2007
During the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 15, a major power outage at Houston County Lake began when one or more unknown persons used a high-powered rifle to shoot through two regulators and a control panel on a pump station road near the lake.
The act of vandalism caused an outage for approximately 300 members living at or near the lake between the hours of 2-7:30 a.m.
"We would like to express sincere thanks for the patience of those members who had intermittent power or loss of power over the weekend," said Houston County Electric Cooperative General Manager Melody Pinnell.
"Linemen and dispatchers worked diligently to restore power to affected areas as quickly and safely as possible."
Ms. Pinnell said the cooperative works hard to keep the lights on but it is difficult to do so when vandals interfere.
Ms. Pinnell urged any citizen who sees anyone tampering with lines and equipment or interfering with electric delivery in any way, to contact the cooperative at (800) 657-2445 and local law enforcement.
