HCSO hosts class
Houston County Courier - February 2008
On Tuesday, Feb. 19 the Houston County Sheriff’s Office hosted a Basic Criminal Interdiction class for local law enforcement personnel.
District Attorney David Cervantes’ Office provided funding for the class attended by 20 officers who received instruction on drug interdiction.
Agencies attending included Grapeland Police Department, Crockett Police Department Houston County Sheriff's Office, and District Attorney David Cervantes.
Tracy Sorge, of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, taught the class.
He also has a contract with the Drug Enforcement Agency to do training.
Sorge has 15 years of law enforcement experience and has had 68 money seizures, totaling 8.2 million dollars in cash.
He has also had 52 vehicle seizures with hidden compartments.
All of his seizures on a federal level have had 100 percent conviction and seizure rate.
There were eight hours of classroom instruction and 20 hours of actual traffic interdiction training with Sorge riding with local officers and deputies.
