Nowhere but Texas
Houston County Courier - March 2008
By Daphne Hereford, Managing Editor

Nowhere but Houston County will it snow twice in exactly 11 months and just 13 days before the first day of spring.
Houston County residents woke up on Friday, March 7 to large snowflakes tumbling from the sky and piling up on trees, fences, signs, houses, automobiles and anything else that was outdoors.
The very uncommon occurrence of snow was last experienced in Houston County on Saturday-Sunday, April 7-8, 2007 when about an inch of the white-stuff covered the area.
Meteorologists predicted the snow would continue on Friday until about 9 a.m. and then dissipate without much, if any, accumulation.
According to the Houston County Office of Emergency Management, temperatures on Friday morning during the majority of the snowfall were hovering around 33.2 degrees.
At press time, about noon on Friday, all that remained of the exciting morning were fun photographs, cold temperatures and gray skies.
