Latexo FFA Meets Presidential Candidate
Houston County Courier - March 2008

The Latexo FFA Ag. Mechanics team recently competed at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Junior Agricultural Mechanics Show with a 6’ x 10’ utility trailer.
Kasey Jeffries, John Turner, and Richard Mendez helped build the trailer in their Ag. Mechanics class under the supervision of Agriculture Teacher Richard Smith.
The team received a blue ribbon on the trailer, which designates projects of high quality, in a class of about 60 trailers.
On the last day of the show, while waiting for the awards ceremony to begin, the students were surprised to see presidential candidate Barack Obama visit the Ag. mechanic show.
The team was able to meet Obama and shake his hand.  Kasey used her salesperson skills to bring Obama over to the trailer and spent a few minutes telling him about the trailer.
There were numerous reporters following Obama and the students were quite amazed by all the excitement.
