A Cypress woman was air-lifted to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan by PHI Air-Med 1 following a one-vehicle crash on US 287 south Saturday afternoon, April 29 about 1:30 p.m.
According to reports, the crash that seriously injured 55-year-old Zoe Holmes occurred about three miles south of Loop 304 in Crockett.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Justin Cuellar, the 2006 Chevrolet extended cab pickup, driven by Deidra Ann Holmes, 46, of Seabrook, was northbound and attempting to pass an 18-wheeler that was also northbound on the four-lane highway.
Reports indicate that while attempting to pass the 18-wheeler from the right lane, the pickup ran into gravel on the side of the road, the driver overcorrected, and the pickup slid across the roadway passing in front of the 18-wheeler, striking a tree.
A second passenger in the pickup, Galen Holmes, 48, of Wimberley and the driver, Deidra Holmes were transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS.
Houston County Sheriff's Office and Crockett Fire Department also responded to the call.
