Results of the
2008 1st Annual Cute Kids Photo Contest

Five local judges met at the library on Tuesday, April 1 to cast their vote by secret ballot in the John H. Wootters Crockett Public Library Cute Kids Photo Contest. 
The judges included Donna Gordon Kaspar, Michael Molnes, Linda Richie, Joanne Warner and one judge who chose to remain anonymous. 
Each first place recipient will be awarded $25 in books and a ribbon.  Second Place recipients will receive $15 in books and a ribbon and the  third place recipients will be awarded $10 in books and a ribbon.
The photo contest was the first of two fundraising events to subsidize the 2008 Texas State Summer Reading Club budget. 
The program offers an opportunity to children ages five to 12 to read, appreciate music and art, compete, and have fun during the months of June and July.
Beginning Monday, April 7 the winning entries will be prominently displayed at the library. 
The contest had four age divisions; 0 to 2 years, 3 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 12 years of age. 

Division 0 to 2 years of age

  • 1st Place – Baylee Omelina, eight months old, entered by her grandmother, Amanda Omelina of Crockett
  • 2nd Place – Brandon Johnson, one year old, entered by his mother, Brisa Henry of Crockett
  • 3rd Place – Kyle Stanley Murff, nine months old, entered by his parents, Heath and Jessica Murff of Crockett

Division 3 to 5 years of age

  • 1st Place – Grant Perry, three years old, entered by his grandmother, Susie Perry of Crockett

Division 6 to 8 years of age

  • 1st Place – Jordan Davenport, seven years old, entered by her mother, Julie Davenport of Grapeland
  • 2nd Place – Seth Stilley, six years old, entered by his mother, Dae Van Noy of Crockett

Division 9 to 12 years of age

  • 1st Place – Taylor Stockton, 12 years old, entered by her step-mother, Sheila Stockton of Latexo
  • 2nd Place – Colby Davenport, 10 years old, entered by his mother, Sheila Davenport of Grapeland

The summer reading program is held at the library located at 709 East Houston Avenue.
The second fundraising event will be held in the fall.  Children ages five to 12 will have the prospect of entering a recipe contest and participate in the printing of a cookbook.
