Local Fire Departments attend Landing Zone Class

More than 50 representatives from seven local fire departments in Houston County turn out to a landing zone class (LZ), presented by PHI Air Med 11, held at the Frontier Camp in Grapeland Thursday. April 10.
Representatives from Crockett Fire Department, Grapeland Volunteer Fire Department, Grapeland EMS, Porter Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Belott Volunteer Fire Department, Austonio Volunteer Fire Department and Houston County Lake Volunteer Fire Department all attended the class.
Chad LeBlanc, a flight Paramedic with PHI, presented a video that demonstrates the proper way to set up an LZ.
The video also taught personnel how to react in emergency situations responders’ face on a daily basis in the course of their work.
Nathan Collins, flight Paramedic for PHI, Jack Colazo, flight RN and Tony Alvarado, pilot also spoke about aircraft safety and what emergency personnel should expect when a medical helicopter is called to the scene.
Frontier camp staff provided an appreciation dinner for those attending the informative event.
