County to discuss Ike recovery, grants at Tuesday session

LIVINGSTON — Polk County commissioners will receive the final site plan and update from Hesters and Sanders Architects for the Judicial Center during a meeting at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Polk County Courthouse. The court is also scheduled to discuss the status of Hurricane Ike debris removal and possibly take action to release the contract with TFR. A separate item on Tuesday’s agenda will consider whether the county should seek bids on a prepositioned contract for future disaster debris removal and discussed bidding methods. The court also plans to select a grant administrator and engineer for Ike-related recovery projects. Commissioners will consider a request from the sheriff’s department to apply for a grant from the COPS program. Officials will also consider advertising for bids to relocate the county fuel system from the law enforcement center to the maintenance engineering building on Allie Bean Drive. A request to use ice and surplus from county buildings as part of activities for a “Healthy County” program. Commissioners also will discuss the financial outlook for the remainder of the fiscal year. Items on Tuesday’s consent agenda include seeking bids for roof repair at Dunbar, tree removal around the Emergency Operations Center, approval of reserve deputy constables and bids for road materials.
