County ups fee for septic system permits April 1
Polk County Enterprise - March 2009
LIVINGSTON — Polk County Commissioners Court made the decision to increase the County’s On-site Sewage Facility (OSSF) permit fee. Polk County set the fee at $160 in 1993 when the permits process was initiated. There has been no increase of the fee in 16 years. An analysis was made of the OSSF fees for the counties within the DETCOG region, and Polk County was found to be among the lowest of all 12 counties. The decision was made to increase the OSSF to $260 for single family residence and $310 for commercial permits. “If you are planning to install or modify your septic system in the near future, you may want to purchase your OSSF permit this month, the permit does not expire for one year,” said Lisa Ellis, permitting supervisor. “If you have an aerobic system at your residence or commercial property there will be an increase in your fee for the Maintenance Policy,” Ellis said. “Due to the amount of paperwork and time involved in 1,100 aerobic system inspection reports being entered and filed, an increase of $15 per policy will be submitted to the county. “ If you have any questions regarding these matters, please feel free to call the Permitting Department at 936-327-6826.
