LIVINGSTON — Pct. 1 Commissioner Bob Willis is hoping to be discharged from Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston as soon as Tuesday after undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds to the right shoulder, arm and leg. Sheriff Kenneth Hammack said Willis himself told a sheriff's department investigator about his approaching discharge. Investigators have not yet taken an official statement from Willis about the events surrounding the shooting at his home on the W3 Ranch on FM 1988 that occurred at about 7 p.m. Friday. Hammack said Willis was shot by his brother, Ben Willis, who drove to his own residence on the ranch and fatally shot himself at about 8:30 p.m. Sheriff's deputies found Ben Willis on the front porch of his residence already deceased. No funeral arrangements had been made as of Monday afternoon. Texas Rangers Ron Duff and Grover (Frank) Huff are assisting the sheriff’s department with the investigation. |
