Man jailed Saturday for showing illicit movie to 12-year-old

LIVINGSTON — After a two-week investigation, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Milton Vanya, 47, of Livingston on two felony counts of injury to a child and a misdemeanor count of providing harmful material to a minor. PCSO Sgt. Robert Thomas received a complaint on July 11 that the suspect had provided pornographic photos and movies to a 12-yearold boy. Allegations were also made that the man had assaulted the boy, causing bodily injury, according to a statement released by PCSO Tuesday. The statement adds that during a thorough investigation detectives located another 12-year-old boy who had allegedly been assaulted by the suspect. Based on the investigation by Det. Richard Delaney, Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Darrell Longino issued the two felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant. On Saturday, Vanya was arrested at his home on Jack Nettles Road by PCSO deputies. He was taken to the Polk County Jail were Longino set bond at $12,000. He was released later Saturday on bail.
