County will continue debate on subdivision ordinance changes

LIVINGSTON — Polk County Commissioners will continue discussions on recommended changes to the county subdivision ordinance adopted earlier this year during a meeting set for 10 a.m. Tuesday. The changes under consideration would include additional rules relating to water/sewer services in newly platted subdivisions. The Commissioners Court will also consider a request from Pct. 3 Commissioner Buddy Purvis to provide offi ce and storage space to Corrigan Christmas Resource Center in the LeBlanc building for food distribution. The court will also consider a resolution in honor of Purvis’ lengthy service to Polk County. Milton Purvis, son of the retiring commissioner, will be sworn in Jan. 1. Commissioners also will consider action on bids received for the repair/ replacement of four county bridges in Pct. 3. This is the county’s second attempt to secure satisfactory bids from contractors to complete the project. Payment for the installation of an antenna for the road and bridge department’s radio system is also on Tuesday’s agenda. Other agenda items include: • Reallocation of certain equipment formerly leased by Santek for landfi ll operations to road and bridge precincts. • Consider action regarding to FEMA disaster assistance program’s debris removal from private property. • Consider appointment of a member to serve as president/chair of the Lower Trinity Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors. • Consider a resolution supporting County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas opposition to changes to landfi ll permitting proposed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. • Consider amendments to the upgrade project for law enforcement radio system to include items damaged in Hurricane Ike. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom on the third fl oor of the Polk County Courthouse.
