Holiday, inventory closures at library begin Dec. 24

Murphy Memorial Library will be closed for Christmas on Dec. 24 through 26. The library will also be closed Friday, Jan. 1 through Jan. 2 for New Year’s Day. The library will also be closed for its biennial inventory from Jan. 4 through Jan. 16. This two-week period will give Murphy Memorial Library staff time needed to take each item off the shelves, inventory it, and reshelve the materials. Because the library has almost 23,000 items, it takes two full weeks to complete the inventory. All materials checked out between Dec. 21 and Dec. 31 will be due back Jan. 19. Library staff will not renew materials during the time we are closed for inventory. Should library patrons wish to return items during the time we are closed, the book drop on the back wall of the library building will be operational. Murphy Memorial Library will also be closed Jan. 18, 2010, for Martin Luther King Day. The library will be open during regular business hours Jan. 19.
