LISD to order May election

LIVINGSTON — Trustees for the Livingston Independent School District are expected to call for an election to be held May 9 to fill expiring positions held by Henry Ager III and Mike Nettles during a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the district’s administrative offices. The board also will consider approval of an agreement to hold a joint election with the City of Livingston. Trustees are also slated to consider appointing Martha Johnson as election judge/early voting clerk and Sarah Cox as alternate judge/alternate early voting clerk for the board election. Other items on Monday’s agenda include: • Consideration for a groundskeeping contract. • Consider approval of the sale of chairs and other items from the old auditorium on East Church St. • Consider approval of sale of property acquired by sheriff’s seizure. • Consider approval of overnight trip for junior high ag students to participate in the San Antonio Livestock Show Ag Mechanics Show. Another group of students are seeking board approval to attend the BPA State Leadership Conference in Austin to be held March 4 to 7. Teams from the junior high and high school are planning to participate. Fourteen LHS students are seeking permission to participate in the Houston Livestock Show March 20 to 22. The board is also set to consider purchasing of a 71-passenger bus and approve a request to Texas Department of Transportation to create a school zone at the current high school campus.
