Commissioners to consider part-time salaries for Ike duty, patrol car purchases

LIVINGSTON —Newly elected Commissioner Milton Purvis will take over his father’s seat Tuesday at his fi rst meeting of the Polk County Commissioner’s Court. Purvis was sworn in Thursday to the offi ce James “Buddy” Purvis held for decades. At Tuesday’s meeting offi cials will consider bids for eight vehicles for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and trade-in eight of the oldest cars in the fl eet. Commissioners will also consider acting on bids requested by Pct. 4 Commissioner Tommy Overstreet for quality iron ore gravel to be used as road material. The court also will consider taking action to revise the minutes of the Sept. 23, 2008 meeting to include specifi c action taken to direct double time and half compensation for part-time employees who worked overtime during the Hurricane Ike disaster relief efforts. Consent agenda items to be considered include: • A request from Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace to purchase a video security system in the amount of $3,000 from Justice Court Technology Funds, including a budget amendment to increase the related line item by $1,208 from departmental fund balance. • Receive an order of appointment, oath and bond from district judges reappointing County Auditor Ray Stelly to another two-year term effective Jan. 1, 2009. |
