LIVINGSTON — Among the fi rst cases to head to court in 2010 will be related to the shooting death of Johnny Ray Bogany, 20, of Livingston on May 25, 2005. Joseph G. Goodrich was arrested on a murder charge June 6, 2005, and was released on $100,000 bond. That bond was later revoked after Goodrich was involved in other “legal entanglements” in Louisiana, according to staff at the Polk County District Attorney’s Offi ce. The shooting was reported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Offi ce at 4:57 p.m. May 25 in the River Lake Estates subdivision. Deputies found Bogany dead from several gunshot wounds a short distance away from his vehicle, according to reports by former Polk County Sheriff’s Offi ce Det. Dennis M. Allen. An arrest warrant was issued based on the investigation by the Texas Rangers and PCSO. Witness statements and evidence found at the scene indicated Bogany and Goodrich had been together shortly before Bogany’s death. The two were acquaintances and met on the road in the rural area that evening.
