New high school 71% complete, architect says

LIVINGSTON — Architect Richard Crump notified trustees for Livingston Independent School District that construction at the new high school complex on FM 350 South is 71 percent complete during Tuesday’s board meeting. The project is on schedule for completion on July 9. The board also received a favorable report from independent auditors Belt Harris Pechacek LLLP. The auditors gave the district an “unqualified” report, the highest possible rating given to governmental agencies. The report stated auditors encountered no significant difficulties in completing the audit and financial statements fairly present the district’s financial position for the year ended Aug. 30, 2010. In informational reports, Assistant Superintendent Janan Moore submitted a written report on the food service department showing that so far this school year, cafeterias have increased service by 119,928 breakfast and lunch meals. When classes dismissed for the Christmas holidays, a total of 409,197 meals had been served for the year, Moore’s report said. As of December 2009, 289,269 meals were served. Livingston ISD also received a rebate check in the amount of $6,329.46 for refunded vendor fees collected on Buyboard purchases which totaled $358,982 for the 2009- 2010 year. LISD has also called a special meeting for 6 p.m. Monday to meet with architects to plan renovation of the current campus after the new high school opens
