Council to deliberate on load limits
Polk County Enterprise - July 2008
LIVINGSTON — City council will discuss and consider possible action on amending city ordinances to provide for load limits on city streets during its meeting set for 5 p.m. Tuesday. The amendments would revise provisions in Article I of Chapter 36 relating to Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Places and Article III of Chapter 38 relating to Traffi c and Vehicles to create the load limits. The council also will discuss and consider an application for limousine service permit by Ronald James Peavy. During the June meeting, council members went into closed session to discuss the application with City Attorney Gaffney Phillips and voted to table action on the permit. Alderman Ray Luna told Peavy he would like to see an approved permit from another city that Peavy plans to serve before the City of Livingston takes action.
Luna added that Livingston has never issued a limousine permit so they have no experience with the relevant issues. Since Peavy plans to serve Cleveland and the Bush Intercontinental Airport, Luna suggested Peavy come back before council with a permit from one of those governing bodies. Council will also consider a payment request for the third installment of $12,392.10 for the sanitary sewer line and lift station project on North Houston Street. The work is being performed by Angelina Excavating. During the City Manager’s report, the council will be briefed on: • The fi re departments participation in the annual training school held at Texas A&M University on July 21 through 26. • The Texas Municipal Leage Conference in San Antonio Oct. 28-31. Tuesday’s agenda includes an executive session called to deliberate the pending acquisition of the Wadsworth Center from First Baptist Church; succession planning for supervisory personnel and the annual performance evaluation of the city manager. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall located at the corner of Church and Jackson streets.
