Polk County Enterprise - June 2008
LIVINGSTON — A 30-year-old Livingston man remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital after being assaulted with a wooden club in the 1800 block of S. Houston St. at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, according to Livingston Police Department spokesman Lt. Matt Parrish. Sgt. Scott Paske and Officer Rob Atkins were called to the S. Houston St. location and found the victim with massive head trauma, Parrish said. Paramedics arrived a short time later and contacted an air ambulance to take the victim to the Houston trauma center. Witnesses gave Paske and Atkins a description of the attacker and officers were able to identify a suspect who was found near the Choates Creek Bridge on Washington Street. James Anthony Jenkins, 43, of Lufkin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. LPD officers also recovered the wooden club used in the attack.
