DALLARDSVILLE — Big Sandy Independent School District Superintendent Kenneth Graham has resigned as of June 30, according to a statement from the district’s attorney Wayne Haglund released Friday. Haglund said Graham’s resignation was for personal reasons and it was accepted by the board Monday night. “The Board of Trustees has interviewed applicants in order to select an interim superintendent to serve the school district during the time that the school district will conduct a search for a new superintendent of schools,” Haglund said. Following those interviews, the board selected Gary Gazaway of Montgomery to serve as interim superintendent. Haglund said he will assist with the search as the district’s legal counsel. Gazaway’s experience as a superintendent includes 12 years at Chester ISD; as well as stints at Hull Daisetta and Needville. In 2007, Gazaway returned to his native Colorado to serve West End School District in the San Miguel basin area. Gazaway’s wife Linda has also had a long career in public schools, often serving as a counselor, according to newspaper reports of his hiring in Colorado.
