OPD jails two for crack cocaine possession
ONALASKA — Onalaska Police arrested a Lufkin man on a felony drug possession charged after they found a rock of crack cocaine his vehicle during a routine traffic stop Saturday. Onalaska Police Chief Ron Gilbert said Officer Jacob Chapman was set up on routine traffic patrol as part of the multi-agency zero tolerance effort when he spotted a vehicle with a nonfunctioning license plate light. Chapman stopped the vehicle and saw open alcoholic beverage containers in plain sight, according to Gilbert. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, found a rock of crack cocaine in the driver’s side door of the vehicle. Lorenzo Alanadrus Johnson, 45, and Angela Renee Grimes Fuller, 34, both of Lufkin, were charged with possession of a controlled substance, and taken to the Polk County jail. Chief Gilbert and Det. John Maddox and Officer Josh Alexander assisted with the search and arrests. Gilbert added that the vehicle was not seized since the suspects were not the registered owners. “It was loaded down with several boxes of raw chickens, so we called the owner and released it to the owner. Gilbert said OPD also assisted with a rescue operation after a sailboat overturned on Lake Livingston Saturday afternoon. “We received a call that a sailboat overturned so I commandeered a boat and went out there,” Gilbert said. He located a woman in the water near the sailboat, which did not appear to be sinking. “She told me that another occupant of the boat was a 52-year-old man in bad health who had been in the water about 20 minutes,” Gilbert said. Officials later located the man who had been picked up by another boater and taken to shore.
