LIVINGSTON — Investigators with the Polk County Sheriff’s Offi ce and the Texas Rangers arrested a Goodrich man Thursday morning in connection with the shooting of a 35-year-old woman, according to a press release issued by Capt. Rickie Childers. PCSO received a 911 call reporting a female had been shot and was lying on the side of the road off of FM 2969 in Goodrich. The woman, identifi ed as Jennifer Gaddis, 35, told offi cers on scene that she was shot by Louis Bookman, 47. She said the suspect was driving a red Ford dually pickup with “Bookman Roofi ng” signs on the truck. Offi cers went to the Bookman residence where Louis Bookman was taken into custody. Search warrants were obtained for the Bookman property on FM 2969 where the incident took place. Investigators executed search warrants, and evidence collected will be sent to the Crime Lab for further analysis. The truck was taken into custody by deputies where it will be processed by the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab. Bookman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Polk County jail under a $50,000 bond. The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston by ambulance. PCSO was assisted by Texas Ranger Ron Duff and the Polk County District Attorney’s Office.
