American Menu play held over
Polk County Enterprise
The Ensemble Theater in Houston has extended “American Menu” by Don Wilson Glenn of Livingston for two Saturday performances, theatre spokesman Robert Ross announced Tuesday. The held-over performances will be at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. March 6. The play takes place in May 1968, shortly after the murder of Rev. Martin Luther King and before the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Five black female workers in the kitchen of a segregated diner engage in painful self-examination as yet another senseless death takes place right in their community. Each of the women faces some heart-wrenching decisions while keeping their sense of humor. The tremendous response from Polk County area theater-goers influenced the decision to holdover the production, Ross said. For tickets, call 713-520-0055. The Ensemble Theater is at 3535 Main St. in Houston.
