4 arrested on drug charges

CORRIGAN —The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) served felony warrants and executed a search warrant on a residence on Martin Luther King in Corrigan early Tuesday morning. Three people were taken into custody immediately and a fourth suspect was arrested at another location, according to a written statement issued by Capt. Rickie Sanders of PCSO’s Criminal Investigation Division. The search confirmed that occupants of the residence at 407 MLK had a working narcotics operation and were selling marijuana, crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Approximately 4 oz. of powder cocaine, 18 grams of crack cocaine and three-fourths of a pound of marijuana was found during the search. Detectives estimated the street value of the drugs at $14,000. Those arrested at the MLK residence were: Lawrence William Franklin, Claudia C. Criswell and Loquetria Yvetta Potts. Franklin was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity (a first-degree felony), manufacture and delivery of cocaine (a first-degree felony), and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver (a state jail felony). Franklin also has an outstanding federal warrant issued by the U.S. Marshals Office on a motion to revoke parole. Criswell and Potts were both changed with engaging in organized criminal activity (a first-degree felony), manufacture and delivery of crack cocaine (a first-degree felony), manufacture and delivery of cocaine (a firstdegree felony), and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver (a state jail felony). About one hour after the SRT team arrived at the location on MLK, members of the team went to a second location on North Magnolia in Corrigan and located a fourth subject. David Phillip Hulett was arrested and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. A warrant is still outstanding for a fifth subject who was not located during the search and arrests.
