Summer fun is just around the corner
Polk County Enterprise - May 2009
The first summer camp to begin this year will be Horticulture at Miss Effie’s Cottage, June 8 to 12 at 8:30 a.m. The camp is designed to learn about plants, birds, butterflies and insects. Camp is open for children ages 9 to 12 years of age. Other camps offered are Cheer Camp, Cross Country, Guard Start, Gymnastics, Lego, Rollerblade, Swim and different levels of Tennis. Detailed information will be available at Parks and Recreation Department at Pedigo Park Tuesday, May 12. For any questions call 936-327-5242. Registration will begin on May 26. Swimming Lessons Swim Lesson sign-up will begin May 26 at Livingston Parks and Recreation office at Pedigo Park. Ages start from 6 months and up, different levels all the up to level 7. The fee this year will be $30 for the first child and a $5 discount for the next. Please do not miss out on this important opportunity for your child to learn how to swim. They will enjoy it and at the same time learn a valuable skill. Private lessons will also be available for those who can focus better one on one. For more information, call 936-327-5242. Pool Parties What better way to enjoy a hot, summer afternoon or evening. Book your private party today. The city pool may be rented by individuals or groups. Availability of the pool will be determined by the Parks and Recreation department. A rental fee of $125 for two hours is charged for groups up to 50 individuals. A refundable cleaning/ maintenance deposit of $100 is required. Reservations must be made in person at the Parks office. Trade Days Mark your calendars for May 15, 16, and 17 come out and enjoy a day or weekend for family enjoyment bring your walking shoes and a appetite, we have some excellent food vendors. Make your home smell spring fresh with the varieties of candles, and fix up your wardrobe with jewelry, last but not least give your home a new look with the arts and crafts.
