Couple on motorcycle killed in Onalaska crash
BY VALERIE REDDELL
ONALASKA — A Willis couple was killed Sunday afternoon when their motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck turning onto U.S. 190 from a private drive, according to Onalaska Police Chief Ron Gilbert. Timothy Gautreau, 57, and his wife, Madonna L. Gautreau, 56, of Willis were westbound on U.S. 190 at the Lakeside RV Resort and Marina at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday when a car in front of them slowed down to make a right turn. “Timothy Gautreau was passing that car but remained in his lane when a pickup truck pulling a boat and trailer pulled out from the RV park and T-boned the motorcycle,” Gilbert said. The pickup was driven by Shannon Keith Burks, 22, of Corrigan. “Mr. Gautreau died at the scene and his wife was taken to a Houston hospital by medical helicopter. She died at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday,” Gilbert said. The investigation is continuing. Gilbert added that investigators are awaiting reports from the medical examiners office in Houston before determining what, if any, charges will be filed. The Gautreaus were traveling back to their home in Willis after attending a wedding in Arkansas, Gilbert said.
