PCSO searching for shooting suspect
GOODRICH — Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting in the Hoot Owl Hollow Subdivision near Goodrich left a 19-year-old local man with a gunshot wound to the leg. At about 6:37 p.m. Sunday, May 15, dispatchers at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot in the Hoot Owl Hollow Subdivision and assistance from EMS and law enforcement was needed. Friends at the scene of the shooting were driving Darius Boyle, 19, of Goodrich, to the hospital but were intercepted by the ambulance at the parking lot of Charlie’s Restaurant. Boyle was located into the ambulance and it proceeded to Memorial Medical Center- Livingston. Boyle was later transferred to Memorial-Hermann Hospital by helicopter, according to sheriff’s department reports. Witnesses told detectives that Boyle went to the home of Norberto Oropeza Villa, 17, also of Goodrich, to see about a title to a car. Boyle left the residents and then came back because a friend had left his wallet on an outside table. Witnesses alleged that Boyle was leaving the yard when Villa shot Boyle in the leg with a shotgun. Villa fled the scene before deputies arrived. A warrant for the arrest Villa on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon has been issued.
