LIVINGSTON — A 45-year-old Livingston man died Monday from crush injuries he sustained when he was pinned under his vehicle at the parking lot of a local retailer at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, said Det. Ken Bohnert of the Livingston Police Department. Bohnert said security video obtained from the store showed Paul Yates Guilbeau had been working on his vehicle in the parking lot. “He had the hood up and you could see him do something under the hood and then go back to the driver’s seat and go back under the hood several times,” Bohnert said. At some point, Guilbeau crawled underneath the car and all of a sudden the car jerked forward and pinned him, Bohnert said. The car was running and he may have grabbed on to the transmission linkage to pull himself under and it slipped into drive, according to Bohnert. After a minute or so, employees heard Guilbeau calling for help and saw he was trapped. They went back into the store and a manager came out with a forklift and raised the vehicle off Guilbeau. Guilbeau was fl own to a Houston hospital by air ambulance. Family members said he died at 7 p.m. Monday. |
