Chesswood Baptist Church got off to big results with 66-plus orders in September and more than 90 orders in October. “It started out hectic but then everything got organized and at last went very smoothly,” according to organizer Carrie Williams. “We had a great response from volunteers to help pass out boxes. We have worked out a system that will speed up getting customers their food for November.” Chesswood Baptist Church has made available a separate telephone number for Angel Food Ministries in the annex building 936-328-4665 The program has new regular hours which are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and Saturday mornings beginning at 9 a.m. until participants have paid for orders. For two weeks prior to the deadline for orders Angel Food coordinators will be open until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and half a day on Saturday. The deadline for orders at Chesswood is Nov. 8. Those orders will be ready for pickup Nov. 22. That is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Angel Food also will offer a special menu for Thanksgiving. The special Thanksgiving box costs $30. The holiday box contains everything you need for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Order one for your family and one for a family in need this holiday season. Each box feeds on an average of four people. The box includes a 7 lbs. (average) Perdue Roasting Hen; 2 lb. Heat and serve Mashed Potatoes; 2 lbs. Heat and serve corn; 2 lbs. heat and serve Green Beans; 17 oz. Cornbread Stuffing; 4.5 oz. Brown Gravy Mix; 15 oz. Cranberry sauce; 8 dinner rolls and one dessert item.
