Polk County Enterprise - November 2008
LIVINGSTON – A 47-year-old Livingston man died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident at 11:15 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 190, six miles east of Livingston. Joseph H. Stetler was driving a 1996 Ford Aerostar van eastbound when it left the road and rolled, ejecting the driver, according to Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Sammy Lattner. Stetler was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where he was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Also investigated Thursday was a collision between an LISD school bus and a pickup truck on Beech Creek Road, 6.9 miles east of Livingston. The 2004-model school bus, driven by Janet Charlene Taylor, 52, of Onalaska, was stopped in a south bound curve, unloading children, according to Trooper David Morris. A 2004 Ford pickup truck driven by Isaac Deaville Jr. of Livingston was northbound, entering the curve, and struck the school bus on its front left side, the trooper indicated. Taylor was transported to Memorial Medical Center – Livingston with possible injuries. A 14-year-old girl, one of 15 children on the school bus, was also taken to the Livingston hospital with possible injuries. The other 14 children on the bus, as well as Deaville, were listed as uninjured. No charges have been filed in connection with the accident, which occurred at 4:24 p.m.
