County to weigh Dunbar repairs, replace patrol car on Tuesday
Polk County Enterprise - November 2009

LIVINGSTON — Polk County Commissioners will consider approving a request to make repairs to the exterior of the Administration Building at the Dunbar Complex totaling $12,500 during their Tuesday meeting. If approved, the repairs will be funded by the issuance of legally authorized debt at the end of the budget year as specified in a reimbursement resolution. Officials will also consider approval of the purchase of a replacement of a patrol vehicle for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The patrol car was totaled when a sheriff’s deputy collided with horses that had wandered into the highway. Neither Deputy Billy Duke and the driver of another vehicle were able to avoid striking the horses. The purchase price of $25,807 will be offset by an insurance settlement leaving an estimated balance of $14,000 which will also be funded through the reimbursement resolution. The court will consider approving the appointment of Jacky Stitt as a reserve deputy constable for Precinct 1 effective Nov. 24 and approval of bond. Tuesday’s agenda includes the possible acceptance of roads in two subdivisions in Precinct 2 into the county road system. Commissioners will consider granting final approval of the roads as set aside in the final plat of Four Corners Estates Subdivision in Polk County. Roads in the Lake Livingston Estates 4 Subdivision will also be considered. Under old business, the court will receive clarification on any variance required to accept roads in Commodore Cape Subdivision in Precinct 1 previously submitted for public maintenance. Commissioners Court will consider casting Polk County’s voting entitlement for election of the board of directors for the Polk Central Appraisal District. Tuesday’s consent agenda in cludes: • Ratification of Polk County Tax Abatement criteria and guidelines. • Ratification of an equitable sharing agreement and certification regarding sheriff’s department 2009 federal forfeitures and seizures. • Ratify an addendum to public officials’ liability coverage to include a takings claim endorsement. • Consider approval of annual renewal of Americare contract for primary EMS/ambulance service for Polk County.
