Caren Coward benefit raises $3,500
On Friday, Nov. 2, Livingston Police Officers sold barbecue sandwiches to raise funds for a scholarship awarded in memory of Livingston Police Officer Caran Coward, who was shot while on duty on April 26, 2008. Since existing policy prohibits officers from soliciting funds while on duty, Lt. Matt Parrish said the department has to get special permission to conduct the quick operation in honor of their fallen coworker during lunch. Many readers expressed an interest in supporting the Caran Coward Memorial Scholarship fund, but did not have an opportunity to do so.
