TxDOT: TTC is dead, again

AUSTIN — Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation announced Wed– nesday it will end efforts to develop Interstate 35 using the Trans-Texas Corridor concept. “Congestion on I-35 is a serious transportation problem that must be addressed,” said Ted Houghton, Texas Transportation Commissioner. When the TTC concept was introduced, the Transportation Commission committed to widening I-35 to at least six lanes from San Antonio to Hillsboro. Agency officials said that commitment to “finish” I-35 stands. The Corridor Advisory Committee will present their public involvement plans to the Texas Transportation Commission at a meeting set for Oct. 29 in Ft. Worth. For more information, visit www.txdot.gov.
