3rd capital murder suspect jailed

LIVINGSTON — A third suspect in the shooting death of Billy Kimberlin Jr. on Aug. 21 has been arrested and is being held on capital murder charges pending a hearing on a request from prosecutors to deny bail. Omega Jabbar Manning, 37, of Houston was arrested by the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force on Friday, according to Livingston Police Department spokesman Lt. Matt Parrish. The suspect was turned over to Parrish and Sgt. Scott Paske at 5:44 p.m. Friday and was taken to the Polk County Jail. “This is an active investigation and we do expect more arrests,” Parrish said. Parrish added that two or three individuals from the Houston area may have been involved in the robbery and capital murder. Kimberlin was fatally shot during a robbery at his family’s home. Suspects entered the home, robbed the occupants and shot Kimberlin, one occupant managed to summon help. Livingston police, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety pursued two suspects who were spotted fleeing on foot. Alderick Lapaul Johnson was captured in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant the night of the shooting Jamaine Terrell Clifton, 19, of Houston was arrested a few days later at a Houston apartment complex by the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force and Houston Police on Aug. 25. District Judge Elizabeth Coker denied bail for the first two suspects in a hearing held Aug. 27. Investigators are continuing to search for an undisclosed amount of money taken during the robbery.
