Commissioners to decide on installing defibrillators
Polk County Enterprise - October 2009

LIVINGSTON — Polk County Commissioners will consider a request from the Department of Emergency Management to purchase automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) to install in county buildings during a monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The proposal has a budget of $30,600 which was included in the FY2010 budget. The Texas Department of State Health Services is encouraging the placement of AEDs in public areas to improve access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and cardioversion for cardiac arrest victims. The court will also consider appointment of a Polk County representative to the Lower Trinity Groundwater Conservation District Board of Directors. Commissioners are also set to discuss an amendment to agreements between the county and volunteer fire departments that requires the VFDs to separate accounting for funds received from or through Polk County. Tuesday’s agenda also includes consideration of acceptance of a donation from Wireless Technologies of a 430-foot communications tower. The court will consider an independent contractor agreement with Jeanette Montgomery for training and/or consulting related to the appointment of a new human resources supervisor. The court will also consider a resolution commending Montgomery for her service to the county. Officials will also hear program updates on from emergency management, consider accepting roads in Commodore Cape and consider offers on foreclosed properties.
