Early voting begins Monday

LIVINGSTON — Early voting by personal appearance for the Nov. 2 General Election begins Monday, Oct. 18 at the Polk County Courthouse, the Onalaska sub-courthouse and the Sechrist Webster Community Center during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) until Oct. 29, according to County Clerk Schelana Walker. Extended voting hours have also been scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Walker said. There will be no mobile voting sites this year, according to Walker. Applications to vote by mail must be received in the County Clerk’s office by Oct. 26. Mail ballots are available to voters who meet one of four criteria: • Will be away from the county on Election Day and during early voting; • Are sick or disabled. • Are 65 years of age or older on Election Day; or • Are confined in jail, but otherwise eligible to vote. Applications can be requested from the County Clerk’s Office or can be downloaded from the Texas Secretary of State’s website (www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/ voter/reqabbm.shtml). Polls will be open from 7 a.m. To 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2.
