Editor’s note: This story contains corrections from the version in Sunday’s print edition.
LIVINGSTON — Polk County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss renown a contract relating to the operation and financing of the IAH (Polk County) Detention Center as part of their regular meeting Tuesday. Following the executive session, the court will discuss and consider action in open session related to the operation and management of IAH. Also during executive session, commissioners will consult with their attorney about contemplated litigation on an unrelated issue. The agenda includes potentially advertising a request for proposals relating to the operation and management of the detention center. Commissioners also are set to consider approving overtime payments to maintenance department employees for excess hours worked to complete the Judicial Center during the period of Sept. 5 to 23. The overtime payments will be made from currently budgeted salary funds for FY 2011. County officials also will hear a request from the sheriff’s office to designate certain light bars, radios and siren boxes as surplus property and donate it to Goodrich Fire Department. Bids for the Dunbar Gym Renovations that are part of the 2008 Ike Disaster Recovery Package #3 will be reviewed at Tuesday’s meetings and commissioners will consider possible action on bids for the project. Consent agenda items include designating Habitat for Humanity as the point of contact to assist in documentation of Fair Housing discrimination complaints from citizens in Polk County.
