Counselors, staff on alert to help victims traumatized by news about youth sports coach
Livingston I.S.D. has announced that teachers and staff are on alert for any signs that additional students may come forward as victims in the ongoing investigation of child sexual assault and possession of child pornography against a youth sport coach who had no connection with the district. “Our...hearts go out to the victims and their families as professionals that work with youth every day,” Communications Director Gregg Faith said Friday. “All of our campus counseling professionals are available to assist victims, potential victims or any students who need assistance.” “We had made teachers and staff aware of the situation so they are mindful of student behavior and any outcries that may come about as a result of the arrest of David Leroy Shannon. We are working closely with Childrenz Haven and the Sheriff’s office to assist with any counseling that we can provide,” Faith said LISD teachers and staff have been trained on the appropriate way to respond to any children who outcry and the appropriate way to help, Faith added. Shannon was a coach with the Leopard League Youth Football program and possibly other sports and youth activities. If your child has had contact with Shannon, or you believe that it is possible than your child has had contact with him, please contact Lt. Craig Finegan, or Det. Christi Allen at 936-327-6810 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
