Livingston names construction manager for library project

LIVINGSTON — After reviewing proposals for the renovation project to relocate the Murphy Memorial Library to the Wadsworth Center, City Manager Marilyn Sutton made a recommendation to City Council that the contract for Construction Manager at Risk be awarded to J.E. Kingham Construction Co. based on the company’s past performance with completed landmark projects such as Livingston High School, the Judicial Center, Central Baptist Church, the hospital and the county jail expansion. Kingham is currently the construction manager for the Polk County College/ Commerce Center and the renovation of what will be the new Livingston intermediate campus on Lions Avenue. “They always take care of their clients after construction is complete,” Sutton said. “Since they are already here, there will be no mobilization costs. Their percentage is not the lowest, but 5 percent of a lower price may be less money than 3 percent of what someone else will charge. “We know we will get good quality with Kingham,” said Alderman Bill Wiggins. In each of the projects mentioned, Kingham completed the project on time and under budget.
