Traffic stop leads to felony charges
CORRIGAN — A 25-year-old man remains in the Polk County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $16,000 on two felony charges of possession of a controlled substance in drug free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, giving fictitious information, driving while license invalid and no insurance Sunday. Corrigan Police Office Kendall Stewart said he initially stopped Aliyas for failure to maintain a single marked lane. “He didn’t have his driver’s license with him and as we talked a little bit more I determined he had lied about his name,” Stewart said. Then Stewart saw a marijuana cigarette sitting on the center console of the vehicle and initiated a probable cause search. During that search he located hydrocode tablets. The driver has been arrested on previous occasions for possession of a controlled substance. |
